Photoshop CS6 Retina display issue.

Hi all. i'm looking for some advice.

I recently purchased a new imac, with a 21.5" retina display. up until now photoshop CS6 has been working fine, but when purchasing the new computer i didn't realise i'd have an issue. the app loads in low resolution mode, but when i untick the low resolution box, the app freezes completely and is unusable. I've tried installing the updates available, but keep getting the error 'updates could not be applied, adobe application managed may be damaged.....' etc. So i've tried downloading the creative cloud app and going that route, but then it's telling me photoshop cs6 is up to date, when i know for a fact it isn't as it's only running 13.0.
I really need to get this updated so i don't feel like i've spent all this money on a new computer, just to not be able to use it for the purpose i bought it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried using the 13.0.6 installer from here, which has Retina support as part of the update?

You might have to use the procedure described here under Creative Suite 6 to install.

You could also try installing the most recent Adobe Application Manager and then try Help>Updates, since there are some more updates for cs6 besides 13.0.6.

A new computer needs budget for new apps. You've only done half the job.

Would be ok if i could outright purchase the app, but looking at ongoing payments will be very expensive for someone making very little money from the app itself. But thanks for the helpful input!

In the days when we could purchase -- it was about $2400, as against today's $600 per year. With the speed of change of Mac/Windows, I think we can expect to need to buy new at least every four years, so the new system should be cheaper for everyone... except people who stay frozen on old computers, who aren't Adobe's target market, not at all.

My thought is that you got Catalina with the new iMac.. MacOS 15 which has totally done away with 32 bit programs, some which make up the patches. That and CS6 is not certified by Adobe to run on Catalina.

You only need to apply the 13.0.6 patch
