Photoshop CS6 Won't Open After Uninstalled Photoshop CC

I recently uninstalled Photoshop CC 2017 from my computer after I cancelled my subscription (technically, I did not cancel it, I just stopped paying for renewals, because I could not find out how to cancel my subscription). Since then, I have been unable to open Photoshop CS6, which I have had long before I ever got CC. Whenever I try to open Photoshop, I get a window that says "Creative Cloud Photography" as the top and a loading wheel in the middle with "Please wait a moment..." above it, and then nothing happens.

Why is this happening? All of my other CS6 programs are working just fine, but my computer is apparently treating Photoshop CS6 like it's Photoshop CC, even thought it's no longer installed on my computer. I uninstalled Creative Cloud, then I uninstalled Photoshop CC, and then I deleted all of the program files associate with both.

It's not like Photoshop CC replaced Photoshop CS6 when I first installed it, because I was still able to use Photoshop CS6 when Photoshop CC was installed. So what is going on here and how do I fix it?

Hi Max,  I  re-read your original post and noted you uninstalled CC 2017, but did not notice or ask if you uninstalled the CC Desktop app which may be causing your problem. CC Desktop does the license verification and may "think" CS6 is still part of CC.

There is an uninstaller for that app. Can you run that?

I do not have CC Desktop on my computer, so I assume it's been uninstalled.

I spoke with a live agent about the issue the other day, and they said that I still have an active subscription for Adobe Design Std and Photography Plan under my old e-mail address. Apparently, that has something to do with it. They were trying to transfer me to a specialist, but after waiting half an hour to get connected with them, I had to leave.

Ok, so it sounds like you have to  cancel that. I have a white macbook and both CC and CS6 on it. If I sign out of my CC account. CS6 then goes to CS6 Standard.

Try reinstalling using your original Photoshop CS6 disks and password. Though you may have issues with it running under later versions of your operating system.

But even though it's not working properly, Photoshop CS6 is still installed on my computer. Wouldn't I have to uninstall it before I reinstall it? There is normally a limited number of times a person can legally install a program from a disc, and I already used my disc at least twice (when I first got it, I was still using my previous laptop).

I don't know how many installs I have left in my disc or if it's limitless, and I don't want to risk uninstalling Photoshop until I'm certain I can reinstall it.

Do you have an option to Deactivate your license under the Help menu? Do that frees up one of two activations you get. When you do that reinstall and activate.

You don't even need your discs anymore, you can now download the CS6 installer. Be sure you have your serial number.
