Photoshop: EPS smart objects opening as PDF, not AI file

Would love it if EPS smart object layer could open/edit in Illustrator by default instead of just opening as a PDF. AI smart object layers open in Illustrator, as expected.

 

Is this a fixable bug? Thanks for assist!

That works! Must not have done the "Change All" button. Appreciate the help. thx

You tried right clicking an eps file, clicking Get Info then change Open With to Adobe Illustrator and also clicking on Change All?

    Set file associations to open eps in Illustrator by default.

     

    (at least that will work in Windows).

    thank you for the reply but I already tried this.

     

    Double-Clicking the layer in Photoshop that contains the EPS (smart object) should open in Illustrator, however, it opens as a PDF. (See attched)

     

    AI smart objects open as expected in Illustrator.
