I recently obtained a Canon EOS R-6 camera and discovered that its CR3 raw file format is not completely supported. I can use the files without issue in Lightroom, I can view them in Bridge, I can OPEN them in Photoshop, but the Photoshop File-Open DIALOG box does not render them, i.e. in the File-Open dialog, instead of seeing actual image thumbnails, they show up as white rectangles with a bluish mountain icon. This makes it cumbersome to select the desired file. I am attaching a screenshot.
(Note: in my case I have jpg versions that can help identify the correct file, I could also use Bridge to find and open files, but in my opinion but the File-Open dialog should just render these thumbnails like it does with the older CR2 files. To me this is a bug.)
My PS is fully up to date (23.3.1), I am using it on Windows 11.

The thumbnails in that dialogue are generated by the operating system not the Photoshop application. You would need a codec installed in the operating system that reads those files.
