Photoshop file opens as static though is correct in thumbnail image

I have a photoshop file that appears to be corrupted in some way. When I open the file it opens as a single layer that looks like the add noise filter. It's supposed to be a multilayered illustration. The image looks correct in the thumbnail but just opens as static. I tried to restore a previous version, but it says there's no previous versions, though I know I had saved it many times. Is there anything I can do or is the file totally corrupted? I know I should have saved a back up somewhere but I didn't.

I am having the same problem on multiple psd files.  Is there an issue with Photoshop?  The files I have tried to open are now corrupted for my colleagues to open too.

There is no issue with Photoshop.

File corruption is always caused by failing hardware - a failing drive, bad RAM, loose cables, worn connectors. Or varieties thereof, like a power loss in the middle of a save. Your first priority should be to find out where the hardware failure occurs, and replace that component.

Always keep backups. I suppose you've learned that lesson now.
