Working in Photoshop 2022 on an M1 Mac Mini.

Photoshop files open in 2022, but only show layers; no images or layer content. It doesn't matter what file I open, I see layers but no content/images. These are projects I worked on lest year and now they don't work. I had seen a fix that required legacy compositing, but that's no longer an option. How do I make these files work?

Correct answer gener7

Two ideas:

Preferences > Technology Previews >checkmark Deactivate Native Canvas and Restart Photoshop.

And you can also try running Rosetta (Intel Emulation)

I'm marking this 'Correct Answer'. I don't know if this will help everyone with this issue, but it worked for me. Thank you.

The following is not a fix, just something to get you going again. The Adobe Creative Cloud App allows for multiple versions of Photoshop to be simultaneously installed. You could install and use a previous version while you sort out the issues with the current version.

When in doubt clear your prefernces!

Quit and restart while holding down Alt+Ctrl+Shift (on Windows) or Shift+Command+Option (on Mac) while you open the program. Hope it helps!

In Preferences>Performance, Uncheck Use Graphic Procressor. Quit Photoshop and Restart.

Worked for me, hope this helps.

I'm having the same issue. The problem with it is I'm on a deadline and it started bugging out today while I was editing. It worked fine yesterday.

I didn't see this until today when I also tried some of the suggestions. I had just hopped on my power book to knock things out and just now came back to my M1 Mac Mini. The answer below from gener7 was:

Preferences > Technology Previews > checkmark Deactivate Native Canvas and Restart Photoshop.

See
if it works for you as well. I hope that their answer helps you or that you've already found a solution!
