Just popping in to say that this method worked for me just now with the exact same error as OP.

WINDOWS

  • Exit Photoshop and the Creative Cloud desktop app

  • Navigate to \Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop <version>
  • Delete the CT Font Cache  and FontFeatureCache folder and empty the Recycle Bin

If you go to Type > Font Preview > and set to "None" and relaunch Photoshop, does the error go away?

Hi Jeffrey,

Thanks for your response - unfortunately that did not work.

Other fixes I have tried, deleting CT font cache, deleted temp files (including recycle bin)

Disabled adobe fonts

Fresh Photoshop install

I can't seem to fix this issue or at least find a workaround

Two things to try:

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:
Restore your preferences using this manual method:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually
Does it work correctly?
If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.
If it does solve the problem, I would like to get the folder of settings to try and figure out what is bad with them.

The second thing to try is: Try creating a new Admin user account and run Photoshop from the new user account to see if the problem goes away: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/basic-troubleshooting.html#permissions

Thanks for the response,

Resetting preferences has worked over the last day or two - not 100% everytime but it seems to be the best way of getting around the issue. Obviously, its not ideal so could you take a look at my settings folder perhaps? How would I go about sending this over to you?

@Marcus5FAD
Can you follow these steps to clear deep font cache too?

Delete all Photoshop font cache files

The Photoshop font cache contains the enumerated list of fonts and font features installed to the system that Photoshop can use. Deleting this font cache file will allow Photoshop to create a new one.

MACOS

  • Quit Photoshop and the Creative Cloud desktop app

  • Delete the CT Font Cache  and FontFeatureCache folder and empty the Trash

WINDOWS

  • Exit Photoshop and the Creative Cloud desktop app

  • Navigate to \Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop <version>
  • Delete the CT Font Cache  and FontFeatureCache folder and empty the Recycle Bin

This worked! But just to say you need to tick the 'Hidden items' box in the view tab of your user folder otherwise AppData doesn't show up! That threw me initially 🙄

Thank you very much. My menu is in German and here the option "Ausgeblendete Elemente" has to be selected.

Worked here too! I had to do a file explorer search for each file to find them. Thanks for posting!

Ingresa al editor del registro, y borra los registros de photoshop.

Editor del registro/hkey_current_user/software/adobe/photoshop

Borra el registro "photoshop" y listo. A mi me solucionó.

Hi Marcus,

So yesterday I just opened Photoshop and the same happened to me. I'm in a bit of a panic as I'm unable to continue my work. I have already uninstalled & reinstalled but the same happened.

Did you find a solution? Arrrgghhh HELP!

So this just worked for me..... its a combination of the above :

First I did this :

  • Exit Photoshop and the Creative Cloud desktop app

  • Navigate to \Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop <version>
  • Delete the CT Font Cache  and FontFeatureCache folder

Then I also did this :

Restore your preferences using this manual method:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually

Then empty the Recycle Bin.

I haven't been able to solve the problem yet. However, I have a workaround for the problem:
Font -> Panels -> Glyphs
Only in this Panel you can select the desired Font without error message. I am urgently waiting for an error correction from Adobe.

Has anyone found a permanent fix for this? Literally just updated and still get the same issue. Super frustrating.
