Photoshop free templates in New dialog box

I am making tutorial videos and I want my screen to look the same as my students' screens. This difference has always perplexed me. Under Recent, I have a list of templates I have downloaded / tried out in the past. It doesn't go away if I reset prefs, update, etc. On the Photo screen I have a long list of free templates I can try. Many of my students don't have anything show up. Can I remove all of mine or how can I get the templates to show up for them?

It's probably stored in some XML file or such in the CC Libraries so I would check the respective folders. A simple system search for file contents with one of the template names might turn it up. If not, then perhaps it's some inaccessible online stuff or at least obfuscated/ encoded/ encrypted locally.
