Question

Photoshop freeze-up when editing a text box

I had enough. I can't understand why and what's the context when this is happening. Only thing I know is that I select the type tool, enter in edit mode and usually I hit escape key because I just wanted to see the font size, line height and so on. But from time to time, when I hit the escape key, nothing happens and that means that everything I'll do from that point nothing will happen. The text box remains active but I can't do anything to Photoshop. Even if in the first 10 seconds I can select other tools, nothing happens.

The only solution is to kill the process from Activity Monitor and start again Photoshop.

I really need a solution for this bug/problem because it starts to driving me crazy.

I have the latest version of Photoshop 2017, up to date.

Running El Capitan on iMac 27" 5K.

Thank you.

I have been having the same issue since yesterday. Editing layers and images is fine, but when I want to edit text in a text box, Photoshop keeps freezing and it takes AGES to make a minor change... I have reset my preferences to the original settings, have run the font test script (everything is fine), have worked on performance and scratch disks, but NOTHING HELPS. It drives me crazy, as I just cannot seem to work with text and I don't know what else I can do.

Is there someone else who can help me?
I work on a Windows 10 PC and Photoshop 2018.

I'm having the same issue. I don't use Photoshop much these days (thank goodness) - but have had to the past week and this is driving me nuts. Had a lot of trouble with AE lately too. It's always 'have you tried doing this thing you'd never have thought to do?' - No. I haven't. Have YOU tried making a product that works? No need right, got our subs coming in regardless.

I'm old enough to remember the days when you paid for a license for these products and they worked flawlessly. This subscription cloud garbage has produced some of the buggiest software I have ever used.

Hi Remusbrm,

Please follow the steps mentioned in Troubleshoot fonts issues in Adobe Photoshop CC, 2015, 2014, CS6, CS5 and verify that you do not have corrupt fonts or font library.

Akash

Happened again this morning. And this after I checked for corrupt fonts or font library (none for both) and cleared the system font cache.

Please reset Photoshop preferences following http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/2012/07/photoshop-basic-troubleshooting-steps-to-fix-most-issues.html#Preferences and let us know if that helps.
