Photoshop Freezes / Crashes My PC When Opening Files / Images

I'm having an issue with Photoshop freezing/crashing my PC when I open files, and I am basically forced to restart PC by holding in the power button on tower. It doesn't happen every time I open a file/image but does happen quite a lot. My PC is pretty new (Inspiron Desktop 3891) and has ticks for everything in Help > GPU Compatibility so shouldn't have any issues. How can I go about debugging this issue? Thanks!

Additionally, it may be helpful to send a crash report if you have not already.

Ok I've just had another freeze after following everything so far in this thread. Please can you advise what to try next?

Hi John,

Can you tell us the specs of your computer? I would like to know if it meets photoshop's minimum requirements to run. We may be able to provide some settings work around to help performance issues if that is the case.

Photoshop system requirements (adobe.com)

Other thing would be to go to Dell's website and verify you have all the latest drivers for your computer.

When Photoshop crashes, this is the first thing to do, try resetting your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings. You can also reset preferences upon a quit if Photoshop is running by going into General Preferences>General>Reset on Quit.
