Photoshop Generative AI does not work

New Here ,
Apr 29, 2025 Apr 29, 2025

Hi community! Since yesterday I noticed that Generative AI does not work on Photoshop. I have v 26.6 installed. Tried on multiple images (jpeg) and new blank file, results always the same: the generation starts, then suddenly stops and nothing happens. Is anyone facing the samme issue? How can I resolve this?

Hey, @z33lzlo. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I reviewed the account you used to log in, and I found an active subscription.

Does this happen with specific images or subjects? You can use GenFill on an image you've saved where GenFill worked.

You can try using Photoshop Web (https://adobe.ly/3WkhVFm) on an alternate device & internet network to rule out that it is a network issue.

Thanks!

Hey, @Sameer K
Thank you for your answer. This happen on all images, new empty file, every type of selection. Other tools are working just fine (like the remove tool). The same happens using PS Web, but since I can login to PS Web I assume it is not related to my internet connection. I tried on different browsers, result the same.

The only difference that PS Web makes is that it gives me a short error message saying "An error happened, try again later".

PS on desktop does not give any error messages.

I will try on different location/network when I'll have the chance, but I'm using it on a desktop PC, not a notebook.

Best regards,
Laszlo

Thanks for sharing the details. I hope it is working now.

If it still does not, ensure any and all apps, or browser plugins that can control how your machine connects to the internet are disabled, or whitelist all Adobe Network endpoints as listed here: https://adobe.ly/3FbaZEo

Thanks!

Today I thought I would try generative fill for a project I'm working on, which is photographing an old blueprint drawing of the saturn jupiter voyager. I eventually just fixed the yellowing and aging by hand with selective color and curves. It was pretty easy. But I thought I would share the before and after that generative fill gave me.

I prompted "remove paper aging and yellowing". This was the result.

Hi @bellevue scott, thanks for sharing your results with us. Generative Fill can do a lot of impressive things, especially for photographic content, but you're right that it's not always the best fit for detailed elements like text, maps, or technical drawings. These types of images can be tricky since the AI may try to "reimagine" the content rather than preserve it. You might get closer with some prompt experimentation, but the way you approached it—using selective color and curves—is the recommended method for tasks like this. It gives you complete control and preserves the integrity of the original image. I really appreciate you sharing your workflow! ^CH

Glad it helped. We use PS and LRC for art scanning and historical document scanning all day long. Always trying out the new tools to see what works.
