Photoshop gets stuck saving file

My images have been getting stuck saving at 29% or 33%.. i force quit, which corrupts my file, and PS won't open again.

i've uninstalled and reinstalled a bunch, even installed older versions. what is going on?

I'm having the same problem with my Macbook pro on Catalina.  I've had this problem several days now and gets stuck at 99% and won't finish.

It's a Catalina-specific issue.

So far I have only seen it reported when attempting to save directly to an external drive, as opposed to saving locally and then moving the file afterwards (which is in any case the recommended and safe procedure).
