P: Photoshop 2025 black home screen blank

Hi guys,

I am using PS 2023 and I really don't want to update as I don't wany ANY of the AI tools etc. Anyway, when I load up PS my home screen is completely blank. I have tried every fix I can find and nothing is working and it's very very frustrating.

I have renamed the UXP, CEP and Extensions folders in all manner of orders and still nothing.

This is really annoying and seems like a problem I shouldn't have to deal with.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The team has fixed the service.

Please feel free to start a new thread with screenshots and System info if you continue to experience this behavior.

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue? (Not even meant as a solution, just a check.)

Is Photoshop > Preferences > Auto show the Home Screen checked?

What have you done for all-purpose trouble-shooting so far?
Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

For me, this issue does NOT occur on "Photoshop 2025" or "Photoshop 2024" but DOES occur with "Photoshop 2023" AND "Photoshop 2022" - see video:

https://youtu.be/UWgiDYPFWiM

PLEASE do not tell me that Adobe recommends that people not have multiple copies of Photoshop installed. I have had all of these versions installed since each of them were released. This issue only started happening a day or two ago. If it was a problem caused by multiple versions of Photoshop, then it would have happened a long time ago. Again, PLEASE do not patronize me with the usual talking points. It only hurts your credibility and lowers peoples' opinion of Adobe. Just fix the problem without blaming the messengers.

Earlier this week, I opened PhotoShop to work on a photo file and the "Recent Files" screen was gone. A blank screen was what remained.  I use PhotoShop 2024 on an iMac with OS 13 Ventura.  I have searched the community for similar issues and have literally tried every suggestion I could find including, resetting PS preferences using two methods (in Preferences and restarting PShop while holding down shift-option-command), restarting PhotoShop app, restarting my computer, unchecking "use Graphic Processor", and finally reinstalling PShop altogether.  My recent files are still shown in the dropdown menu under "Files" but the screen still remains blank (see below).  Any "new" suggestions for what might be causing this issue? Has Adobe decided to do away with the "recent files" screen altogether?  Thanks, BG

The instructions from Adobe - There is no Library listed in the dropdown menu under Finder.  Nor is there a Library listed under the Go dropdown menu.  - WG

Steps for Mac:
  1. Close & Quit Photoshop app
  2. In Finder, go to ~/Library/Caches/Adobe/CCX Welcome
Hold down the Option key & click on the 'GO' menu from the top & select Library.
  3. Clear the contents & remove them from the trash.
  4. Go to Activity Monitor (use Spotlight search)
  5. Quit Creative Cloud Content Manager
  6. Go to /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Creative Cloud Experience
  7. Run Creative Cloud Content Manager
  8. Open Photoshop

First: I opened Photoshop2024 yesterday, but the mainDisplay didn't open, so I thought it was common, so I closed Photoshop2024 and did something else.

I opened Photoshop2024 the next day and it hasn't changed from yesterday. So I deleted Photoshop2024 from Adobecloud and downloaded the 2025 version and opened it.

But that doesn't change either

Why can't I see the main screen of Photoshop? Please help me

Here's a video file

Thanks for adding the details and your patience. The team has started an investigation for v25.0, and the issue does not exist on the latest versions of Photoshop. Please update Photoshop to the latest version available via the Creative Cloud desktop app and check if the issue exists.

Thanks!

The above steps to reset the home screen didn't work for me. I went to general and deactivated the homescreen and check the legacy box as instructed, restarted PSD and it's still completely blank. Is there anything else, short of updating PSD to the latest version cuz that means I have to save all my pattern files because PSD likes to purge them all just for fun I guess? I miss my home screen. Thanks for your help.  I'm using an iMac in PSD23.

@defaultqndm9w1kbcey have you tried manually resetting your Photoshop preferences
