Photoshop Ipad Brush Cursor?

It seems like in some of the Adobe Max videos the iPad version of Photoshop had a brush cursor.  Mine does not.  Is this a setting somewhere that I'm missing?

Doing things like carefully drawing on layer masks is extremely difficult without a cursor.

Hi there,

This is the beginning. The first version of Photoshop on iPad is focused on compositing, basic retouching, and masking, common tasks and workflows that we know will be useful for most Photoshop users. Over time, we’ll add more capabilities and workflows as we learn more about how customers use Photoshop on a mobile device.

We’re releasing with a set of features we know all Photoshop users will need and plan to add capabilities as we see how customers use Ps on the iPad. While leveraging the same code base helps accelerate development, we’re also deeply committed to rethinking every experience for the pencil and touch screen to give you the best Photoshop experience possible no matter what environment you work in. We know we have more work to do and we encourage you to share what’s important to you after you’ve tried the product.

Feel free to share all kind of thoughts and feedback on our Feedback community: https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/categories/photoshop_family_photoshop_mobile

Thanks,

Akash

Seriously? Not even brush indicator? I understand that it'll take the to develop features for ipad/mobile but this is ridiculous.

Hi Teutschk,

Perhaps you're referring to the Touch indicator? Typically it's used for demos so people can see what is being interacted with.

You can turn them on from the Home Screen > App Settings (Gear) > Input > Touch > Touch indicator (turn this on)

Let us know if you're referring to something else!

Regards,

Pete

No, he's referring to the circle showing the brush size. It's pretty frustrating to have to guess what size brush you're working with.

The Max videos had the Touch Indicator enabled fo thepurpose of demonstration.

Cursor brush size has been a requested feature in Fresco, and it's been mentioned here in another thread for Photoshop for Mobile, too. You can request this yourself via the feedback link in Settings, or go straight to the feedback website. Here’s the link to the main categories page:

Keep in mind that in iOS generally, there is no floating pointer to preview brush size, because there is no “mouse hover” as there is on a computer. No mark is made until the pencil hits the screen.

This is changing. Apple improved this in the newer iPad Pros that do support Apple Pencil Hover with the Apple Pencil 2, which can finally show a mouse-like preview pointer when you are not actually touching the screen with the Pencil. If you have a combination of iPad and Apple Pencil that do support Apple Pencil Hover, then it’s quite fair to request that Adobe put a brush size preview in the pointer on hover.

However, for context, on my iPad Pro (which is a little too old to support Apple Pencil Hover), iPad painting/photo apps by Apple, Affinity, and Procreate also don’t provide any brush size indicator even when the Apple Pencil is drawing, so this feature is just generally hard to find on the iPad. Photoshop can at least put a little dot on the screen as you press the Apple Pencil, if Show Touches is enabled, but it doesn’t match the brush size.

In the meantime, in Photoshop, on any supported iPad it’s currently possible to preview brush size by tapping the brush size control.
