Question

Photoshop is being silly!!

Ok, so I've been using Photoshop on my windows 10 PC for years. Currently using the latest version with no issues until the last week or so. For some reason over the past few weeks I'm having trouble with my workspace changing, plugins vanishing (and not listed in "plugins"). Clicking "manage plugins" normally brings upo the Adobe cloud app but that too sometimes doesn't come. Then suddenly all my plugins appear but all on the left side of the screen on top of each other!

I then have to drag all my panels and plugins into a workspace, select "new workspace", give it a name and save. Closing PS and then restarting generally opens with my workspace, but there have been occasions when a panel (for example, layers/adjustments/properties combo will be at the bottom of the screen instead of higher up. I've done nothing to my computer recently other than deleting some old Photoshop folders from previous versions, located in "Program files>Adobe". I've reset PS preferences, but that did not help.

Would welcome some ideas/help. Thanks in advance. Cheers.

What happens if you just reset your workspace?
Are your custom workspaces listed after a restart?

Do your dates look right in the workspace file location?

C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2023\Adobe Photoshop 2023 Settings\WorkSpaces

Are your Preferences edits surviving a restart?

FWIIW because we constantly drag panels about to make screen shots for forum answers, I have actions that set and reset my three main workspaces.  These are triggered by F5, F6 and F7.  It is very satisfying being able to tidy up my workspace with a single button press.

Hi Trevor,

Many thanks for your replies. In answer to your questions, when things go crazy:

1. After a restart they are listed, but clicking reset workspace "paul" (my one) reverts to another workspace.

2.C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2023\Adobe Photoshop 2023 Settings\WorkSpaces. In Adobe Photoshop settings there are 2 folders: WorkSpaces and WorkSpaces (Modified). Within WorkSpaces there is a file named paul.psw  date modified is 7/03/2023 (7th March as we use d/m/y format here). In the WorkSpaces (Modified) there are 11 files: 3D.psw, Blur Gallery.psw, Content-Aware Fill.psw, Essentials.psw, Lighting Effects.psw Motion.psw, Neural Filters.psw, Painting.psw, Paul.psw, Photography.psw, and Select and mask.psw.

3. Ctrl/Alt/Shift and resetting preferences has no effect on my workspace...I have to manually do it again.

Cheers.
