Photoshop is extremely laggy on my high end system!!

Hi everyone,

I'm facing an issue with Photoshop running noticeably laggy and sluggish, even though I’m using a high-end PC setup. Tasks like moving layers, using brushes, or even zooming in/out are lagging, which is affecting my workflow significantly. Sometimes when i shift from type tool to selection tool, the software completely get stuck for a while.

Here are my system specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9700X 8-Core Processor
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER
RAM: 64 GB
Storage: SSD - 1 TB + 2 TB HDD(Photoshop and files are on the SSD)
OS: Windows 11 Pro
Photoshop Version: 26.6.0 20250414.r.14 f1f3569 x64

Things I’ve already tried:

Updated Photoshop to the latest version
Updated my graphics drivers
Increased RAM allocation in Preferences
Enabled/disabled GPU acceleration
Reset Photoshop preferences
Tried both Performance mode and Standard mode

Despite all this, the lag persists, especially with large files/small files or especillay when using smart objects, filters, and even when the project is on artboards.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue or found a fix? I’d really appreciate any insights, suggestions, or advanced settings tweaks that could help resolve this.

If anyone from adobe can provide a solution to this, much appreciate.

Thanks for sharing the system info. I'll move this to discussions for now.

Does this happen when you use any image without Artboards? Could you try disabling GPU compositing? Here's how you can do it:

1 - Go to Edit > Preferences, then Performance.
2 - Click on Advanced Settings.
3 - Uncheck the GPU Compositing option.
After doing this, restart Photoshop and see if the issue exists.

If it doesn't help, try Photoshop (beta) from the Creative Cloud App > Apps tab > Beta apps.

Tried all of these mentioned steps. Results jus the same.

Photoshop is extremely laggy on my high end system!!
