Photoshop Issue

Never had any issues till this morning. When adding and adjustment layer (sharpen of overlay) the image vanished and leaves a white rectangle. It is still possible to add say a blending option such as stroke but cannot see what has been applied. I then have to click 'flatten layer' to review image. In other words the image doesn't remain live. It happens every time I double click the image to create a layer. or when a filter option is activated. There must be a setting issue but searching I cannot trace a setting option. Comments welcome.... sorry if explanation not 100% clear

I've moved this from the Using the Community forum (which is the forum for issues using the forums) to the Photoshop forum so that proper help can be offered.

Hi
If you're on version 23.3, disable this option in preferences and restart Photoshop

Thank you so much for this! Since the new update to 23.3, layers just haven't been working properly. I also faced the problem the OP did, as well as contact sheets and straightening using the ruler tool pixelating the images. This seems to have fixed it after trying a lot of other settings.

Thanks. Gald I am not alone. Yep.... I have 23. 3. But pardon my ignorance ..... where in preferences do you disable it. I assume you mean the preference menu when you have PS open., cannot see an appropriate tag
