Photoshop Keeps freezing and Crashing 23.3.1

Hi all,

 

My photoshop 2022 Version 23.3.1 has repeatly experience crashes and freezes upon performing simple functions such as wand tool, brush tool, etc. I have exhausted all tips and advice on the adobe help page but nothing seems to work. Here are some information that might be useful for you:

 

1) I am using a Lenovo Legion 7. AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX with Radeon Graphics 3.30 GHz. 32GB RAM. Nvidia Geforce RTX 3080. I have 776gb of storage left in my C drive.

 

2) My GPU is compatible. My drivers are updated. My BIOS is updated. 

 

3) I HAVE TRIED deleting CT Font File, increasing my RAM usuage to 85%, holding down to shift key when I open my photoshop and skipping plug-in loading, unchecking Use Graphic Processor, Resettig Preferences on Quit.

i am having the same issue

MIne is Dell G5 15 5500, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz, NVIDIA GFORCE RTX 2070 with max Q design.
My GPU is compatible. My drivers are updated. My BIOS is updated.


I am not a very technical person, looking for assistance

Welcome to this friendly forum.

A few basic questions.

Which version of Photoshop and OS?
How much RAM and spare hard disk capacity do you have?
Have you tried resetting the Photoshop preferences, which you can do under the General tab in Photoshop preferences?

How much RAM - 16 GB ( 8/8-)
spare hard disk capacity do you have?  256GB free
Have you tried resetting the Photoshop preferences, which you can do under the General tab in Photoshop preferences? yes

Go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck Multithreaded Compositing - and restart Photoshop. 
Still crashing? 

Go to Preferences > Performance... click Advanced Settings... and uncheck "GPU Compositing" - then restart Photoshop. Still crashing?

    Hi thedigitaldog,

     

    I have followed your steps and the freezing issue is yet to be resolved. I have contacted multiple adobe agents for the past 3 days and the issue is still not fixed. I have repaired my C++ Drivers, reset my preferences, there is no 3rd party plug-ins, I have tried using the newest and previous version of adobe photoshop, nothing seems to work. Could you advise me on what else I should do?

    Did you try disabling GPU in your preferences?
