Photoshop keeps freezing when saving

Whenever I try to save something in photoshop as a jpeg, photoshop will freeze on me. The save menu will close and when I try to click on any of the options on the photoshop screen afterwards, it makes that "dinging" sound and won't do anything, and the only way I can close the program is to control+alt+delete and stop it from the task manager. It won't freeze my whole computer, I can still move the mouse around and do other things like derp around on the internet or open another program, but photoshop itself won't do anything.

I have tried to search for a solution but haven't found any answers.

Hmm, no luck. It is still freezing. It will load jpg images but it will freeze when saving them.

Most of the images I am trying to save are scanned, I don't think they are very big. And it will freeze regardless if it is something that is scanned or if it is a new blank document.

I guess the duel GPUs is a normal thing - I have the regular one that came with the motherboard and the giant brick of a video card clinging to it which is the one I'm using. This is according to my brother, who helped me build it or actually he built it and I just kinda watched but I paid for a lot of the parts so I deserve some credit?

Hi try to reset your preferences and open again Photoshop or if it not helps then remove it using creative cloud tool and re-install it hope that works.

I had similar freezing issue with jpg. At the same time I had the same jpg attached to AutoCAD. Closing the AutoCAD solved the issue.

this is happening to me too on ventura on an imac with 128 G operating ram and radeon pro 570X 4 Gb . I could not get it to stop so I updated to latest photoshop 24 and removed all previous versions of photoshop and it is still happening.

Try resetting your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings. You can also reset preferences on quit if Photoshop is running by going into General Preferences>General>Reset on Quit.

(Mac OS only) Open the Preferences folder in the Library folder*, and drag the Adobe Photoshop CS Settings folder to the Trash.

. You may wish to make a screen capture of the settings in the Preferences dialog to reset them prior to deleting of this file.

What are your system specs, in Photoshop go to Help > System Info and copy and paste that into this thread

Also have you checked Windows event application log to see if there's errors relating to Photoshop

I checked the application log and I see a bunch of error messages for something called "DistrubutedCOM" and "Bonjour Service" but nothing I *think* is related to photoshop.

I updated it through the cloud recently which didn't make a difference, it was having the same problem before and after I updated it.

System info looks fine, although you do have dual GPU's but I don't think that would be causing any issues with saving files, how big are the images you're working on

You could try deleting the preferences file

Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 Prefs.psp

From this location

C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2019\Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 Settings

You may need to enable this option in file explorer to view the AppData folder
