Photoshop latest update keeps crashing the program
Hi All,
My Photoshop now no longer can stay open after being launched - after it loads an image file or starts a new project, it will just crash and the program window simply dissapears - without any error message. This happened since the latest auto update from Creatice Cloud Desktop. The update list says it's version 25.1, updated 15 days ago. I didn't have this problem before, so it appears to be caused by this latest update.
What's interesting is that I can still open it from Camera Raw, by first clicking on a DNG raw file and select to open it with Photoshop, which will launch Camera Raw, and I can edit the file in raw and then click on "Open" in Camera Raw, which will launch the Photoshop and load the image from Camera Raw, and it can stay open after this without crashing. But if I start Photoshop by itself and drag in a JPG file or start a new project, it will immediately crash and won't stay open.
My environment is Windows 10 Enterprise, version 22H2, OS build 19045.3570 - these are from the Windows property display. The copy of Photoshop is the same one I have been using for a couple of years, with the Creative Cloud subscription. My hardware is Lenovo Thinkpad with Intel Core i7 Pro.
I don't know if anyone has run into the same problem with the latest update on your Windows machine, but I hope someone from the Adobe's engineering team will respond to this and let me know if there will be a fix for this soon, or if there's anything I can try myself to troubleshoot this to get the PS program to stay open without crashing.
Thanks!
Bill
