Photoshop malfunctioning since updating mac to Ventura.

Hi I'm wondering if someone can help me. I updated my computer to Ventura on Friday, since then, Photoshop has been acting all kinds of wonky. It jumps around and occasionally I get a green screen (see my attachment) for awhile. I have the latest update on the Photoshop. Illustrator is running fine, but Photoshop has been affected.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

 

Then try the following:

1) Go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and check "Disable Native Canvas" - then restart Photoshop. Does the problem still occur?

2) If 1 doesn't work, go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck Use Graphics Processor.

@Bob Travis version 24 should work fine with an M1. What issue are you seeing?

Ver. 23.5 works fine with M1 graphic processor turned on. Why does it need to be turned off in Ver. 24? Is this a bug that will be fixed?

It worked. I did the first option "disable native canvas". Thank you so much!!!

Anybody having this issue, can you please share your Photoshop Help>System info? The green canvas here suggests a problem with Photoshop hanging onto the GPU.  Turning off the native canvas turns off Metal for Photoshop, and is not an ideal workaround.

 

The GPU might be flakey for a number of reasons:

• hot-plugging in monitors to a laptop mid-session (using Photoshop)

• bad upgrade; the GPU drivers are embedded with the operating system update, and bad driver installs can happen; reinstalling the OS could repair that

• failure to restart the system after installation

• bonkers preferences file

• Old GPU

• Low memory on the GPU

 

System Info, if you can share it, can help us zero in on what could be suspect on your system; thanks for any data you can share!

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

 

Then try the following:

1) Go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and check "Disable Native Canvas" - then restart Photoshop. Does the problem still occur?

2) If 1 doesn't work, go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck Use Graphics Processor.

No, it doesn't go away. I even let the computer sit all weekend with Photoshop unused and it's still acting up. 😞

If you quit and relaunch Photoshop, does the green screen/jumpiness go away?
