Question

Photoshop missing "Default File Location" setting in preferences?

Running photoshop 24.01 on windows and trying to overcome the ever irritating "save to cloud" options. Everyone is saying to go to  Preferences > File Handling > Default File Location and change that to local. The drop down that i'm seeing in posted images does not exist for me. Did i find a bug or did they move this? I'm about to lose my mind here.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out.

What do you see currently? Can you share a screenshot with us?

This is the general workflow: Go to Photoshop > Preferences > File Handling > Default File Location > Set to 'On your computer and restart Photoshop. We still get this option on version 24.0.1

You can try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps mentioned here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#reset_preferences. Please back up your settings prior to resetting the preferences.

You can check https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#BackupPhotoshoppreferences.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks!

@Exter Marketing

That option was not available in the version of Photoshop in your screenshot, the most recent versions have a Share button where the arrow points, it would help if you posted your Photoshop system info, in Photoshop go to Help > System Info, hit the copy button and paste the entire thing into this thread
