Photoshop or Illustrator? (making a flyer)

I'm getting ready to start working on a flyer for my website I have built. I am a website designer and was wondering if I could get some opinions on which software to use when building a visual flyer that has key notes to what it is about.

Also what is the main difference between photoshop and illustrator in a project like this?

Thank you.

Correct answer macpawel

This is ONLY my opinion but:

Use Illustrator for: graphics, logos, illustrations, symbols, icons ect

Use Photoshop for: editing photos (retouch, color, brightness adjustements, collage)

Use InDesign for mix vector images, photos and text for brouchures, catalogs, posters ect.

Use HTML (Dreamweaver) for web based solution

This way you can work fast and effective. Just use right tools for your needs

Didn't know I should be more specific for this..

I am a web designer, already have the site (have to make a few more adjustments to it after I get others opinion on it before it goes live). I am wanting to make a flyer to advertise my website. I will be taking this flyer along with business cards to local gas stations, schools, colleges, and businesses.

I am in love with Adobe's creative cloud, it makes dreams like mine come to reality. I have used Illustrator to make my logo for my site. Mainly all I've used is Dreamweaver and Illustrator. I posted this form purely to get other's opinion on which software to use and what about it made it useful to one that has made a flyer with the idea that I have.

Of course I could 'google' this. But I wanted to use this form to get other's / experts with skills in these two software's opinion on which to use and why. Maybe some helpful tips.

Thanks

As I see it: For actual print purposes vector output for graphic elements including type can make a difference (even though it may be lost on large parts of the prospective audience) so Photoshop is not the first choice for generating products that are intended for print, contain significant portions of aforementioned graphic elements and do not mainly consist of photographic imagery.

I'm thinking that if you need to ask the question, then you are probably super advanced with either, so if you will need to watch a tutorial or two to get you started, I'd probably go with Illustrator.  But that is qualified because we don't know the planed content.  We know that a lot of web designers use Photoshop to plan how their web pages will look, for instance.

Perhaps you would get a better reply from the Dreamweaver site, although a lot the same people use this forum as well.

Mylenium already covered a lot or relevant points, but one difference between Illustrator and Photoshop one could immediately note is that the one is vector oriented and the other pixel oriented (though both have at least some capabilities in both).

To add to the above distinguished contributor's comment, do you want visitors to your site to be able to download the flyer, such as in the form of a PDF?

Sorry for sounding frustrated, but have you actually bothered to look up any video tutorials or read the respective online help at least to figure out that part? The rest is not relevant at this point. We simply don't know what your website is about, what it contains, what tools and techniques may be required to recreate that info and ultimately how it's going to be printed. there may even be some sense to get involved with InDesign if there's lots of text. So unless you can be a lot more specific, nobody can give you any definitive advise.
