Hello everyone, i open a new post about this issue. I read some people had same problem but nothing works for me. Maybe could you help me please?

When i zoom in image and using The Polygonal Lasso Tool with my Pen Tablet, it's Freezing.

Here is a video of someone with the same problem :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzMpkHaF0Lk&feature=youtu.be

For me, it starts like that but the freeze is not stopping and he is more long until i switch to my mouse, move her out of image and click.

The mouse click keep the pre-selection line  activated and i hardly find the end of my selection so i must use CTRL to end it.

I tried :

- Reset Preference on Quit

- Enabling Options "Legacy Compositing"

- up by 5% the memory usage

- Updated photoshop and Tablet Driver. (Huion inspiroy Q11K V1)

- i have desactivated key and shortcut of my tablet. (I never use it btw)

Here is my Photoshop System Info (it's in french but you can see the stats easily) :

It seems to be a known issue but i would like know if someone can help or inform me on this, maybe it will be fix later?

Just in case, here is my PC Specs :

WIN 10 + 2 Monitor.

Thank you

Have a good day

I am currently using Photoshop 24.1.0 Release and the issue still persists. Tried all the suggestions above but it still freezes.

So, I have the same or at least a very similar issue ever since I installed CC2019, and it is even present in the latest versions of 2018.

Each time I use the lasso tool (polygonal or regular), photoshop seems to either freeze completely, and I have to minimize it to unfreeze, or the lasso tool, after 3 to 7 selection clicks, starts skipping klicks or won't allow me to close/finish the selection. If it freezes, the selection is gone afterwards, but if I press ctrl z I can go back to a perfectly fine, closed selection.

However, this completely ruins my workflow because 99% of the time I work with selections.

I tried all the sugested fixes, including going back to legacy compositing, resetting photoshop, allowing for more RAM, etc. I'm kind of out of options and it is actually almost completely blocking me from doing my job.  I would really appreciate if anyone has any more tips or has actually found an official solution.

Hi

Have you tried setting the drawing mode to basic in advanced settings and restarting Photoshop, also what are your system specs, in Photoshop go to Help > System Info and copy and paste the entire thing into this thread

When you say resetting Photoshop do you mean resetting the preferences

Hey, thanks for your suggestion!

I tried that before and it didn't change anything for me, my drawing mode is actually currently set to basic because I hoped it would at least increase the time I have before everything freezes - but that is not the case. It also does not help if I disable the graphics processor usage or update the driver. it does not seem to be a graphics processor specific issue because it also occurs on my other machine, which has a different graphics card.

I reset the photoshop preferences, yes, several times even, reinstalled, made sure to have the latest updates, but no update seems to fix the problem so far, even though it's been around for months and a lot of people seem to experience the same or a very similar behaviour.

Hi Ben,

We're sorry to hear about the tool freezing, could you please try reinstalling the tablet drivers and see if it helps?
Does it freeze when you work with a mouse?

Have you tried deselecting Use Graphics Processor located in Photoshop's Preferences > Performance and see if it helps?

Regards,
Sahil

Sahil Hi,

Thank you veru much for the fast answer, no problem, issues happens, it's like that to live in the futur

Alright, i have done what you suggest to me :

- Reinstalling Tablet Driver : issue not fixed

- Using the mouse : issue still here

- Deselecting "use Graphics Processor" : issue gone, Polygonal Lasso works fine, but i was not able to use many option as the new feature : VIEW> Symmetry Horizontal axis.

And it's form here i noticed something : I flip my image every time in Photoshop.

Before i was using : IMAGE>rotation image> Horizontal Symmetry of canvas (sorry i don't remember in english the exact term)

Using this feature was heavy for computers and bring little loading before flip the image.

Then, came the feature for VIEW >Symmetry Horizontal Axis. Finish the loading before flip! really nice.

So, i made a test and notice the issue appears only  when i flip using the VIEW>Symmetry Horizontal Axis feature!

if i flip back normal, no issue. if i flip view : issue is here.

I tried flip as before with IMAGE>rotation image : no issue on that but the little loading is here.

I hope thoses informations will be fine to help me.

it is a little bit weird because it never happens to me this issue before, the new feature was working fine.

Let me know

thank you again Sahil for the help
