Question

Photoshop "Save As" does not save back to Original Lightroom Folder

This seems to be an ongoing issue and one that obviously does not have a fix to the communities satisfaction. When a file is sent to Photoshop for editing from Lightroom and then "saved," most users would obviously like to see the image saved back to the original location that it came from in Lightroom. "Save" does not give the option to dictate the type of file we wish to save, so in order to save as a .psd "Save as" is required. This defaults to the last loaction used, not the location the file came from, and requires a search on the users part to find the original location. It seems like a common sense issue and one that Adobe shopuld have addressed by now. If it has been, It certainly does not seem to be so, as previous suggestions don't seem to work and if the fix has been implemented, far to many users can't seem to be able to find it. Adobe please come up with a straightforward fix.

You set the file format (TIFF or PSD) in Lightroom Preferences.

In Photoshop Preferences there is a checkbox to save to original folder. With this unchecked, it saves to the last folder.

At all default settings, Save in Photoshop saves the file in the same folder it came from.

And to be clear - Photoshop doesn't "save back to" Lightroom. It just saves to disk. It appears in the Lightroom catalog because a background script keeps track of the file throughout this process, and adds it to the Lightroom catalog.
