Photoshop running so slow

I am running Photoshop 25.9.1 and it is suddenly so slow to do almost anything. I have a file that is only 128 MB and it takes like 3 minutes to open or save it.

 

There are points when I am working (and this. happens regularly now) when the brush tool actually moves like it is in slow motion. The brush strokes lag behind my pen by at least a second.

 

I tried to follow the tips for optimizing performance, but none of it seemed to make any difference--probably because I am so dumb about what all the terminology means.

 

Can anyone help and explain it like I am in special ed?

@Serene_observer5E99 And there is your issue - you have little to no RAM available for Photoshop.

Photoshop's minimum is 8 GB  and you have 8 GB total RAM with less than that available for Photoshop.

Also setting your Memory usage above the default 69-70% with this little RAM available works against you.

You need more RAM or PS will run slower.

Free memory: 2736 MB

Memory available to Photoshop: 4518 MB

Memory used by Photoshop: 83 %

After 7 versions and 8 months (april), Adobe still hasn't managed to fix the bug that makes work tables with text layers extremely slow to move.

I'm currently using two versions 25,7 , the last one that worked well and the most recent one that makes me cry a little.

    @Serene_observer5E99 And there is your issue - you have little to no RAM available for Photoshop.

    Photoshop's minimum is 8 GB  and you have 8 GB total RAM with less than that available for Photoshop.

    Also setting your Memory usage above the default 69-70% with this little RAM available works against you.

    You need more RAM or PS will run slower.

    Built-in memory: 8192 MB

    Free memory: 2736 MB

    Memory available to Photoshop: 4518 MB

    Memory used by Photoshop: 83 %

      Provide a copy of your 'System Info' that's getting from the Photoshop menu item Help > System Info. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

        What have you done about general Photoshop performance and Scratch Disks so far exactly?

          I honestly couldn't tell you what all I tried. I didn't think I needed to keep a record of it. Unless there's some way to generate a report from the application, it's lost.

           

          Pixel dimension of one of the files is 2550 x 3150 and  it is 8-bit. But it happens with pretty much every file, no matter the size.

           

          The brush I use most is KYLE Ultimate Inking Thick and Thin at different sizes from 3-25 px, usually. I have to quit Photoshop and restart it and then it will work ok for a bit and then start lagging again.
