Photoshop Select Inverse Shortcut Fails

I've had this issue in Photoshop for some time and I'm only now annoyed enough to post/report this bug.

When I make a selection on any layer using any selection tool (lasso, wand, etc.) I will often need to "select inverse". The keyboard shourtcut should be shift+ctrl+I but it never works. I have to manually go into the "Select" menu and choose it via the dropdown menu.

It would be very helpful if this can be fixed. Shortcuts are more efficient.

Does anyone else have this problem?

If you have an AMD graphics card with their AMD Adrenaline software installed, that could be the issue.

I had the same problem and discovered that AMD Adrenaline hijacks the CTRL+SHIFT+I hotkey combo where it's set to "take screenshot". Setting that hotkey to something else, or simply deleting it, fixes the issue in photoshop.

I have the same issue in Ps 2024.

I created a post about it today b/c all the prior posts were either a few years old or on Macs (I'm Win 11) & I'm tired of it not working for a number of releases.

as @Bojan Živković11378569 said, you may have a mistyped keyboard short cut
You can check that by going to edit>keyboard shortcuts and open the "folder" seelect as in my screenshot, and check there. You can click on that shortcut sequence directly and change it (or revert to default if you prefer)

highlight the shortcut to change it

The default shortcut dropdown menu

Looks like Shift+F7 works. I'll just have to get used to that. The original Shift+Ctrl+I however does not work although it is apparently available. Thanks.

Perhaps you accidentally overwrite that shortcut? Ensure that you are using English keyboard and that Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts > Set is Photoshop Defaults.

Pretty sure I didn't overwrite it. I don't have many custom shortcuts.  Thanks for the note.

Hi @Bink58 that doesn't sound good. Have you tried any of these solutions?
