I was using a TIFF file to retouch in photoshop and now there are weird b+w squares all over the session. Not sure what to do?

Hi

If you are working on a file and see such corruption do not save the file over the existing file (it is not good practice to do that anyway in case of corruption during saving). No matter how corrupted your open file becomes, Photoshop does not overwrite the file on disk until you tell it to using Save (or Ctrl+S).

The exception to that is PSDC cloud saving which is automatic, but that does have versioning.

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

Does turning on »Deactivate Native Canvas« (Photoshop > Preferences > Technology Previews) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
