I opened a JPEG in PS but it is not visible, only a black background, although the image and its layer should be visible. How can I fix this?

Hi there,

That shouldn't be happening, could you please try deselecting "Use Graphics Processor" located in Photoshop's Preferences > Performance, then relaunch Photoshop and let us know if it helps?

Also, please let us know the version of Photoshop and the operating system you're using.

Regards,
Sahil

Amazing, it worked! Thank you so much!

What is "Use Graphics Processor" usually for? Does it have consequences when it´s switched off?

Thanks again for your help!

Hi

You will lose some functionality that's requires a GPU, more info

Try updating your GPU driver from the manufacturers website, also try setting the drawing mode to basic in advanced settings

Check to see if it will open in another application, if not it may be a corrupt JPG.
