Question

Photoshop starts slowly but when it starts it works perfectly

Hello there,

we are currently tackling an issue with Photoshop. When it is launched, it takes 4 to 5 minutes to start, but when it starts it works (almost) perfectly - only the opening of files via other Adobe Apps (such as InDesign) or File Explorer remains very slow.

We encountered the very same issue with Paint, if this information can help.

The graphic card we are currently using is a NVIDIA T400 4GB and the version of Photoshop is the 25.4.0.

If you need any other information, please let us know, we will gladly help you understand the issue right away.

Hello EDV29239223alej,

Can you please check the background task? Is there any background that is consuming more memory? As you have mentioned, you are also facing the same issue with non-Adobe Applications like MS Paint.

Thank you very much for your reply. I checked the background tasks and there is nothing that is consuming more or a lot of memory...

Very interesting. I'm facing the exact same issue (Photoshop is taking 4 to 6 minutes to start and works fine afterward). Did aaaaall the fix suggestions, everything is up to date, the computer is few months brand new ...
And I have a NVIDIA GeForce 4070 GPU
Maybe we have a start of a lead ?

When Photoshop takes a long time to start, it is usually a problem with loading presets and plugins.

Keep a carefull eye on the Splash Screen, and see if it stalls at any point.  The screenshots below are a bit messy (Greenshot was not able to freeze the screen to drag the window!) but it will say fonts, brushes memory etc.  If it stalls, then it is having an issue on that aspect of opening.

Try launching while holding down the Shift key.  That forces it to ignore third party plugins/filters.

If it stalls at loading fonts then this page will help

You'll get the idea.  Either search yourself, or come back here and we'll point you to the relevant page or suggest what to do.

Good luck.

You can check the following article which might help fixing the issue: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-slow-lags.html

Also, make sure that you are meeting the system requirements as well.

My processor is 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700 2.10 GHz and my RAM is 32,0 GB. My PC model is HP Z2 Mini G9 Workstation. I don't think that the system requirements are the issue in this...

Thank you very much for the suggestion, we checked the article and we did all the things it specified regarding our matter but with no positive results. The issue is still there, unfortunately.
