Is there a setting or is this some stupid change the maid and didn't tell anybody.
When I enter, it just goes into oblivion on the right it doesn't make any linebreaks, regardless of how wide the text box is. There a setting of this some other unintuitive change that we made?
Here is a screenshot. There is plenty more text in this box, but it doesn't show up unless I delete the text that does show up.

There isn't stupid change hidden from public. I can not replicate. Try to reset Type tool and perhaps Character and Paragraph panels. If nothing helps maybe as final solution can help preference reset.

Hi @danielb94023111 sorry to hear you are having issues. What OS are you on, you selected a multitude and it is hard to help without knowing what OS you are talking about.
Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:
Restore your preferences using this manual method:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually
Does it work correctly?
If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.
It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

First: if you are on Windows, you have an alphabetic Enter to start a new paragraph as well as a numeric Enter. On a Mac, you have Return to start a new paragraph and a numeric Enter. (You tagged Mac, Windows, and iPadOS.) Use the alphabetic Enter/Return to start a new paragraph, not the numeric Enter, as it does not do the same thing in most Adobe applications.
In addition to leading that was mentioned, it could also be space above or below a paragraph since it happens when you press Enter (assuming the alphabetic Enter/Return).
Select your text with the Type tool and open the Character and Paragraph panels (Window menu). Do you see a very high leading or paragraph spacing? If not, show a screen shot with those panels and your selected text.
