Photoshop tools acting wonky

multiple tools acting wonky, e.g.,
Burn Tool remembers its "path" prior to
mouse left press which normally starts
burn action, now the path gets burned, too.
same issue with Quick Select & Remove tools;

closing, reopening PS 2025 don't help;
shutting down, rebooting don't help;
saving between actions don't help;

summary: tools are remembering where they've
been before left-mouse-press; normally tools act
only AFTER left mouse is pressed...

WHAT SETTING DID I CHANGE BY MISTAKE?
or do I need to delete & reload PS 2025?

WHAT SETTING DID I CHANGE BY MISTAKE?

By @Jeffrey Greenberg

Each tool has options that are sticky, meaning they work across time and across documents until they are changed again.

Enable your options bar (Window menu) if it is not already enabled. Right click the icon of the tool in the options bar (not in the toolbar). Here you have a choice to reset the one tool or all tools. Since several of your tools are acting "wonky", reset all tools so they go back to their factory defaults.

Does this fix it for you?

Hey, @Jeffrey Greenberg. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll need more information to help you figure this out. Please share a video & screenshots of the issue and the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

Does it behave as mentioned after a specific set of steps? What troubleshooting steps have you tried already?

Also, please test and confirm if the issue exists with Photoshop (Beta). You can get Photoshop (beta) from the Creative Cloud > Apps tab > Beta Apps section.

Thanks!
