Question

Photoshop tools unresponsive, but program still running

Hello, my Photoshop 2019 is having some frequent issues lately.

The program will open and run fine for around 15 or so minutes, then will suddenly freeze, but not in the normal way. I can still click on layers, the tool bar, and my keyboard shortcuts will go to each of the tool icons on the left hand tool bar, but no actions will actually happen. For example, during this freeze time, I can still click or keyboard shortcut the shortcut for the Brush tool and my left toolbar will show that I have the Brush tool selected, but I can't actually apply any action to the canvas. I cannot zoom in or zoom out either. The scroll bar on the left and bottom side will show that the action is still occurring, but the canvas will not show any action.  The canvas portion of the screen is more or less frozen, with my tablet pen/mouse working the entire time.

Could anyone help me with this? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop and also restarting my comptuer, but the problem has continued to persist.

Hi, it may also be related to the graphic driver.

As a workaround I found that reloading the graphic driver (Win+Ctrl+Shift+B) do the trick.

Im wondering how you uninstalled and reinstalled CC2019 as its no longer available via the Creative Cloud desktop app? What version number are you installing?

How much hard drive space do you have available for your scratch disk?

Never mind, I found it. I have 593.62 GB for scratch disk space.
