Hi, I am Illustrator user and there is an option in Illustrator called 'Reset Bounding Box'  that resets the bounding/transform after any rotation of the objects and I am looking for a similar operation to do in photoshop after tranforming my selection and cannot find any resetting options available to reset the transform box. Is there any option to reset the transform/bounding box after committing any rotation operation

In the options bar set the angle to zero and the smart object will revert to its original angle prior to it becoming a smart object.

Remember the angle so you can enter it again after the transformation you want to perform.

Are you looking for Image > Trim?

I came across this question looking for the same answer.  I had an Smart Object that I needed to resize, but the bounding box was diagonal, not allowing me to shorten the object on the one dimension like I wanted.   I believe I found your non-destructive solution though.  You simply double click the smart object layer, which will then re-open that object alone, in illustrator.  You then rotate the whole object in Illustrator 45 degrees (or whatever it takes to set the bounding box where you want it), save it, and go back to Photoshop.  You might need to do it a couple times to get it where you want it, but you will get your bounding box reset correctly.  Hope that helps!

Try putting the SO in a Group and transforming the Group.

Are you talking about Smart Objects?

Could you please post a screenshot taken at View > 100% and with the pertinent Panels (Layers, Channels, Options Bar, …) visible?

Yes. I am talking about smart objects. I do not want to rasterize the smart objects for non-destruction workflow purposes.

Then the Transformation Box will  continue referencing the SO’s bounds.

As a work-around you could convert the SO to an SO.

This could lead to the unintended image degradation but by opening the SO and upsampling it to a higher resolution the effect might be able to be alleviated.
