Photoshop Transparency won't work

Hi,

Whenever i try to add a transparent image/photo onto a canvas in Photoshop it comes up with black when the transparency was supposed to be. Please help this is really annoying. If you have the answer please tell me in the comments.

You can't paste PNG file with transparency directly onto an existing canvas.  If you do, the transparent area shows as black.  You need to right click and save the file locally, and open it as a new document.  The transparency will be

did you export the photo as .JPG or .PNG? if it is .PNG it should be fine, but if you do it in .JPG you won't get the transparency.

It's not when i export it's when i put the photo onto a canvas... if that makes sense?

yeah. but the photo you put on the canvas. is it a png? I think it might have something to do with the setting. maby it show transperant as black.
