HEIF/HEIC
Modern camera devices provide the capability to capture HEIF/.heic photos.
macOS - Photoshop supports HEIF/.heic files running on macOS High Sierra v10.13 or later.
Windows - To successfully view and edit HEIF/.heic files into Photoshop, download and install both of the HEIF and HEVC CODECs directly from Microsoft.

that´s from the info to the PS 22.1 update.
the HEVC codec on the microsoft store is 99 cent.
that´s the one windows user need to install?
adobe was not able to provide proper HEVC/HEIC support on its own?
you do know that many people don´t have and want a MS store account?
i have the HEIC extention installed (it is free and installs without a MS store account) but photoshop won´t open HEIC files. there is no SAVE option in the SAVE AS dialog.
so i guessed it is because i don´t have the HEVC extention installed?

as i wrote that was asked a decade (or maybe 8 years) ago (including write support).
that´s what FULL SUPPORT of HEIF/HEIC means. not only opening files. 🙂
requesting it again makes not much sense i guess.
yes on the apple side the support is maybe there (including write support?) ... even more puzzling that windows user did not get the same kind of support.

This is going a bit in circles. The implementation on both Windows and Mac relies on operating system support. In macOS, it is native; while on Windows, the codecs are added from the Microsoft Store.
Not sure if writing HEIC/.heif files is possible with Windows' provided support. But you are clearly asking for something that is not currently available in Photoshop. So, if you are serious about the request, the proper channel is the feature request link given above, with explanation and examples.
The devs will look into it and hopefully respond. No guarantee that anything further would be done in PS, but that's the correct avenue in this case.
