Photoshop Won't Load Brushes

Starting with two updates ago, Photoshop simply refuses to load any of my old brushes. They are in the Presets>Brushes folder and Photoshop won't recognize them. I tried loading them into the software from with and the same thing...Photoshop only sees the base set of brushes but none of my other ones that have been working in PS for years. Any reason for this? Is there a setting I need to activate or something?

What happens if you drag the abr-file onto the application icon?

Could you provide the file for testing? (May not be helpful but still …)

Wow...crazy...that fixed the problem. All of them showed up now. What does that trigger exactly?

It is a way of loading preset files, but the other methods should normally work, too.

So you could look into it further – any possible filename issues? What exactly happens when you address them via Presets Manager?

I have the same problem.  I have tried over 20 brush sets...NONE OF THEM WILL LOAD even with Preset Manager.  I have Windows Photoshop CS5 Extended.
