Such issues are often fixed by a reset

Perhaps try resetting Photoshop preferences?

(read this entire post before acting please)

Resetting restores Photoshop's internal preferences, which are saved when Photoshop closes.

If they become corrupt then various issues can occur.

Here’s some info on how to do that:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html

Manually removing preferences files is the most complete method for restoring Photoshop to its default state:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually

The user Library folder is hidden by default on macOS.

To access files in the hidden user Library folder, see here for how to access hidden user library files.

Unexpected behavior may indicate damaged preferences. Restoring preferences to their default settings is a good idea when trying to troubleshoot unexpected behaviors in Photoshop. check out the video

And here’s an earlier forum discussion as an aid to understanding

You may want to backup your settings and custom presets, brushes & actions before restoring Photoshop's preferences.

Here is general info about that:  https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#BackupPhotoshoppreferences

I hope this helps

Check this: Apple changed the security requirements in MacOS Monterey and later. This is a big issue with Lightroom Classic, but can also affect Photoshop. Go to MacOS 'System Settings - Security & Privacy' and add Lightroom Classic and Photoshop to "Full Disk Access". Click on the lock icon to unlock the settings, then click on the plus icon to add Lightroom Classic and/or Photoshop if it isn't already listed. If it is listed, then just enable the checkbox. Ok, not much info we can go on except MacOS.

Try File > Open and navigate to the file you want, it should open, if not, what error message do you get?

As a starting point reset the Photoshop preferences.

Quit Photoshop

Hold down the following keyboard shortcut and start Photoshop:

  • macOS: command + option + shift

When Photoshop opens a dialog is shown that asks "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"

Click on Yes

Hi there's not much more to say I'm running Monterey on my M1 16 inch macbook and playing money for software that doesn't work since the update.

Hi, sorry to hear that please post the contents of Photoshop's Help>System Info... menu, so that we get to know your OS, its version, the exact version of Photoshop you are running, the date of the GPU driver, etc.

Did you get any error message? did you give Ps the necessary permissions?

Did you try installing a previous version?  https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/using/install-previous-version.html
