Can anyone help with with a guide on how easy it is to put somthing together like the attached. I work with a rugby club and I'm looking at maybe doing something similar with some of our images where i can place an image inside another image, maybe a portrait of a player, but have an action shot inside or the other way around.

This can be as easy and quick as dragging and dropping the person into the document. If you need to separate the person from their background, use Select > Select and Mask to quickly isolate the person (Select Subject button and Refine Hair button). Set the output to Layer Mask before clicking OK.

Of course you can spend more time using the tools and settings in Select and Mask to achieve a more refined edge, if you want.

Use multiple Photoshop Layers stacked on top of each other.  See screenshot.

  • Background layer,
  • Image layer,
  • Text layers.

To place images inside the athlete's form, use smart objects, layer masks and displacement maps.
