Hi, Im trying to upload RAW files into Photoshop so I can use my VSCO presets. Each time I go to open a RAW file, a window pops up for me to choose my pixels, height and width. Its never asked me this before. How do I make sure I choose the right amount of pixels? Is it based off of the bytes in the photo?? Attached is the window that pops up. Any help is appreciated!!

There are two types of RAW file.

1. Camera RAW files - these are opened in Photoshop just using the File - Open dialogue which in turn will open Adobe Camera Raw.

2. Photoshop RAW image files - this is a different format. I suspect you have tried to use File - "Open As" and specified the .RAW format for a file that is not in that format

Try using File Open and selecting your image file

Hey Dave! Thanks so much for the answer!

Do my files need to be in RAW format prior to opening them up? They are all JPEGs.

I have not used the VSCO presets but it looks like they are presets for use in Adobe Camera Raw.

If so there are three ways .

The first and best option is to use an actual raw file from your camera. Just open it with Photoshop and it will automatically open in Adobe Camera Raw for you.

The second way, if you do not have a raw file from your camera  and only have a jpeg,  is to use Bridge and after highlighting your image go to File - Open in Camera Raw

The third way is to open the jpeg file, as you normally would in Photoshop, then go to Filter - Camera Raw Filter. I am not sure whether your VSCO presets will show there but it is worth a try.
