Placing an image into canvas gives a square with invisible content

I'm using some photoshop actions. When the action asks to load and place an image on the canvas, I can scale it, move it and skew it but I cannot see the image. It is invisible.

I've tried on PS2017 and PS2023 and got the same result.

I've tried unchecking 'use graphics processor' on the preferences but it doesn't work.

Placing the image via menu does work.

The problem appeared today. It was working months ago.

Is there a way to fix this problem? Thanks!

Hi,

If your talking about the yellow/organe flame type Layer that is not visible. I think that's because it is beneath a Layer that has no transparency.

If you want to see that Layer you would need to add a Layer> Arrange> Bring to Front step to your action.

Or just do it manually.

Hey Simmer1, thanks but I don't know how to edit the action, and manually moving the layer on top doesn't work(I've already tried, but the action doesn't allow it).

Moreover it does the same thing with another action.

I've used those actions a hundred times successfully.

I can only think about a driver problem but they are up to date.

Bongiorno.

If you finish the operations, and then hide the top layer, is the flame visible?

Are you able to select the top layer before you commit the action?

Try to restore your preferences to the default using this manual method:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually it lets you keep a copy on the desktop that you can use to revert the process.

I've tried resetting the preferences yes.

When you place/paste, it always goes directly over whatever layer is selected (highlighted in the panel).

So the problem is that when you run the action, the "BG" layer is selected. If the "FG" layer was selected, the placed layer would go on top and you would see it.

I've no idea what the action steps are here, but that's what you need to fix.

Hi, can you unfurl the action and post a screenshot of its contents?
