Can someone please help me out here becuase I can't seem to get it right.  I'm wanting to paint my computer which is the one shown.  I want to paint all of the black surfaces white and I'm wanting to change the blue fan lightning and the blue hdd caddys to purple.  I also want to paint the front case logo either black or purple as well.  I've included the purple sample in the image that I plan to use.  Can someone convert this image for me please becuase I'd like to see what the outcome will look like and I can't figure out how to do it.paintingcomputer.png

You could try an extreme curve adjustment to lighten the case and a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer to alter the colour of the blue lighting

You may need to use selection tools to select portion which you want to lighten or to change to white. After making selection it is your choice which adjustment to use to convert greys to white. Use Curves or even Hue/Saturation and drag Lightness slider to the right. Another way is to create adjustment layer then to paint layer mask to restrict color change to areas which are black or grey.

Task to change color blue to purple is easier, you do not need selection. Create Hue/Saturation adjustment layer then choose Blues from the second drop-down list then drag Hue slider or use all available sliders to get exact color which you want.

I would create a colour selection mask, and two layers for the case. One layer levels, second layer solid (non saturated ) colour. You will need to play with the levels and also the "blend if" sliders.
