Plugin or action to add white border to images

Community Beginner ,
Dec 16, 2021 Dec 16, 2021

Hello,

I am searching for a plugin or action that can put a white border around an image similar to the 'border' photo labs of the '50s–'60s left on small (4x6) prints. Ideally, the plugin or action could do a bunch of individual images in a folder automatically.

Also, the border could be of different styles, such as scalloped or with corner place holders, drop shadows, and an aged look to the border.

Apple Pages has this feature but unfortunately it does not export images, and is not automated.

Thank you.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am willing to buy the app, plugin or action.

Thanks.

Try Adobe Exchange, search for "border" in Photoshop plugins.

Thanks Lumigraphics,

Yes, I've searched the plugins and while a few do frames/borders, the specific design I'm after is not part of the packages.

Thanks JJMack,

I know how to create the border but am looking for an automated system that will do hundreds of individual images at the click of a button.  🙂

Photoshop commands can be put into an action and then bulk applied in many ways (droplet, batch, image processor or other scripts). You just need to make or purchase the actions.

Which search engines did you use to look for automated image framing processes. There seem to be many available when I looked. Here a google search

JJMack, it is more than just a white border, although that could be the start before embellishing:

"Also, the border could be of different styles, such as scalloped or with corner place holders, drop shadows, and an aged look to the border. "

@OmerVC went on to mention "styles" used in Apple Pages app, which are not that hard to recreate:

Your collage scripts could be used to populate such design templates!

Thank you Stephen,

Yes, that is exactly what I'm looking for:

48_B.jpg

Making these in Pages is very easy but when imported into Photoshop they are seperated into three seperate elements of different size and not high resolution, and into individual files. So reconstruction is manual, and faced with doing hundreds of these...well, what are computers for, right?  🙂

There was such plugins in the past but I do not see them recently. Perhaps you can create action on your own or do it using Smart Objects or even Data sets.

If I can understand you correctly, you want to batch process 4x6in and that is good starting point. If dimensions are consistent then you can record you own action or create design then batch process using action, data sets... to replace photo in "mockup".

Thank you, Bojan,

While I know of actions, I'm not nearly proficient enough to create one that does what is needed. And, to compound things, the ratio aspect of the images is not constant.
