Hello, up until very recently, point text (not using a text box) in Photoshop always aligned based on the text itself. I noticed today that when I created point text and tried to align it with another layer, the text aligned based on the bounding box and not the text itself. How do I specify how text aligns in relation to other layers in Photoshop? I can't find options for aligning anywhere.
I am using CC and have the latest update.

It would be helpful if you could give more details or post some screenshots to show the problem.

Sure, I also did some more testing and noticed the issue seems to only be occuring in my current file. When I created a new file, both with single and multiple artboards, the align tool was back to normal. So something in my current file got screwed up. In the images below, the text is being aligned vertically to the blue rectangle. The top image shows my current project file and the text aligning below center, while the bottom image is a new file where the text is aligning directly center.
