Possible to apply clipping mask to layer that is already a clipping mask?

Here is my layout a sample of my layout.  I want to adjust the color of layer 1, but it already has a clipping mask.  Is it even possible to add an adjust to just layer 1 without affecting all the other layers below it?

You could use a layer style like Color Overlay on Layer 1 and that won't affect the layers below.

You could also turn Layer 1 to a Smart Object and then apply an adjustment layer as a smart filter

and that shouldn't affect the layers below.
