possible to make an action pause for 1 second?

I'm still having problems with fast export to jpg. Function became much more reliable once I disabled all the creative cloud sync features I could find, but am still experiencing intermittent unreliability.

I think that sometimes the image looks one way to me on the screen but is not actually that way to the system yet, and then I fast export it before everything is all synced up and I get the wrong version of the image.

So I want to insert a short pause into the action I use to do the export - I want to hit the function key, have the system wait for a second so the image is completely processed, then continue with the action, then pause again before returning to me so it's completely saved.

Is there a way to insert this type of pause into an action? I need the program to continue running in the background, or there's no point, so I think that the "sleep" scripting function won't work.

cheers,

dave

ps - I don't need any alternative workflow suggestions - just an answer to this question.

I was going to suggest Playback Options, but that applies to all steps in the action.

Maybe you could use Insert Stop with Continue and by the time you hit the Continue Button (or Enter/Return) about a second or so will have passed.

turns out I can't put "quick export" into an action - sigh - I guess I should have checked that before

is that a bug, local bug, or a feature? can anyone else put "quick export as jpg" (or png or whatever) into an action? my system refuses

thanks for your suggestion re: playback options - it would be the solution if I could only get the quick export thing into an action

frustrating....

Insert Menu Item seems to work although photoshop records that as an "unknown menu item".

Works only for File>Export As not Fast Export, which won't record even with Insert Menu Item.
