Pressing and holding Z for Zoom tool in Photoshop

While using a different tool I was able to press Z and hold it down.  That would temporarily activate the zoom tool.  When released it would revert to the tool I was using before.  This was my preferred method of zooming in and out of an image.  It doesn't work anymore.  I'm using the latest version of Photoshop.  Was this function deleted on a recent update?  Is there a way to get it back.  Or is there a setting I don't know about that changed?

Hi @someguysomewhere go to preferences/tools and disable Spring Loaded Tool Shortcuts.
