We used to print with an older version of PS and a Design Jet HP6200 using various papers (Coated180g, Glossy250g, Canvas, etc) and machine paper selection was always master, it printed well no problem with colors and we didnt had ot select any options.

Now, we ugraded Photoshop ( Printing with the same machines) and noticed the colors were off. So we started testing and noticed that we need to select "Printer Manages Colors" and then select the name of the paper in the Printer Profile, finally in "Rendering Intent" use Perceptual.

What can i do to Print as we always did? Is there a way? Because we print several images in plans and it would be nice if photoshop did what it used to do, to save us work.

If you are using Photoshop manages color, which is the correct way to manage profiles, also go to the print driver (via the print settings button at the top of the dialogue) and ensure that :

a. The correct media is selected to match the profile

b. Colour management in the print driver is off - you do not want to have colour management in two places.

As Dave wrote, printing with Photoshop Manages Color is the recommended method.

The alternative [Printer Manages Color] can work well for the manufacturers own media (by that I mean HP media that's specifically listed by name under media options in the printer driver software)

Printer Manages Color works like this - based on the selected media from that list in theprinter driver software, the driver selects a paper/printer ICC profile in the background.

So, that method isn't useful for custom

So, that method isn't useful for custom media profiles.

If Printer Manages Color worked previously and does not now, maybe you changed a setting in the printer driver software, or maybe you updated something.  Such issues are usually a sign that something has changed.

Anyhow -

it seems that you have a workable way to get decent prints - You'll get used to selecting Photoshop Manages Color and the right ICC profile for the paper. I hope that’s not too tedious?

I hope this helps
