Problem when cropping since updating to Photoshop 21.1

Since updating to Photoshop 21.1 I am having a problem when cropping an image. Much of the image gets blanked out by the grid background so I can't see the lower portion of the image. It makes cropping guesswork! They also haven't fixed the problem when saving a .jpg to replace one that already exists. It is still adding the word "copy" to the filename and creating another file! Come on Adobe GET THIS SORTED!
