problem with 2 graphics cards on Photoshop

I have the exact same laptop and issue. This is a new issue though. For most of this year I have run the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo (4k two-screen laptop) with a docking station and 3 external monitors without an issue. I am not sure what upgrade killed it, but I can no longer use any GPU functionality in Photoshop. Previously with this scenario, it detected my NVIDIA GPU and could select the acceleration through the performance preferences, getting use of 3D, etc.  Some PS update came in and now the GPU selection in Photoshop is greyed out. I have rolled back as far as 21.1.3 so far, and cannot find a version now that works correctly, properly detecting the GPU. The drivers are current, I have forced the issue of using the NVIDIA through both Windows 10 GPU settings sections (assign NVIDIA to photoshop.exe and sniffer.exe) and through the NVIDIA panels, to no avail. This is very frustrating. In order to use those features, I have to disable the Intel on-board GPU, which eliminates either 1 of two screens on the laptop, or as I usually work, through external monitors, one external monitor. Something has changed, and it's killing productivity.
